Hot Nerd Friday: Arthur Darvill

Okay, so Arthur Darvill isn't really a conventional hottie. He's kind of an Adrian Brody hottie. You know? You don't realize you're attracted to him until you've been staring at him for a couple seasons. I have only seen Arthur Darvill in "Doctor Who" though to be fair, he hasn't been in a whole lot else. I very much enjoy watching playing Rory A.K.A The Best Boyfriend Ever. I mean, Rory may have accidentally shot his wife because he was a robot but at least he waited around for 2000 years to protect her. Nice guy, right? Rory and Amy's love is beautiful. They need each other. Rory wouldn't even exist if it weren't for Amy.

Can you tell I'm really jonesing for new Doctor Who?

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary

The BBC has announced their plans for their "Doctor Who" 50th Anniversary! We will be getting a 90 minute tv movie! Woo! There aren't really any detail at this time but I am sure some will surface... eventually.

Until then, I will rock back and forth chanting, "Doctor, Doctor..." until that daft old man comes back on my tv with a new adventure.

Soon?

Please?

Yes?

Squeeing About Emma Watson

I literally put down the Ravenclaw scarf I am knitting to write about this. I'm not making this stuff up. According to The Telegraph*, Miss Emma Watson has very recently signed on with Guillermo Del Toro on his new "Beauty and the Beast" period piece movie. How freaking exciting! Not a lot is known about this project at this time but with a director like Del Torro, it is sure to be an eye-gasm.

If you are unaware of Del Torro's work, he is the moon-faced little man responsible for such visually stunning movies as "Pan's Labrynthe," "Hellboy," "Hell Boy 2," and "Puss in Boots." Okay, fine they can't all be genius works... Hopefully Del Torro will bring his eye for beautiful sets and costuming to this re-imagination of a classic story.

For Miss Watson's role, while it has not been announced at this time, I am going to venture to guess she will be in the starring role. No much worth in mentioning it if she's only going to be a hand-maiden. I will be eagerly watching IMDB.com for confirmation of my amateur speculations.

While we're waiting ever impatiently for this beauty of a movie to put in our grubby little hands, it is my recommendation that everyone checks out "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," starring Emma Watson next month. This is a movie I will be viewing opening weekend and will probably have a very strong opinion about.

Weeds

I currently have a complicated relationship with "Weeds." This is a show that I have loved for a long, long time. Last season, I heard a rumor that that was going to be the very last season forever and ever amen. At the end of season 7, The Botwin/Graves/Prices all came together, were a family, la-dee-dah and Nancy got shot in the head. I was perfectly content with the thought that Nancy was now dead and the rest of the family would be better off without her.

Two or three months ago I discovered that an all new season of "Weeds" would be starting on Showtime this summer and Nancy isn't dead. Great! Now we're off on another wild Nancy adventure in which she tries to be a good person and be close to her family. Awesome! While she has made it clear to everyone that she is no longer interested in being in the drug business, her family and associates are all very much still in the drug business in some way or another (Shane as a cop, Silas as a drug... dealer? I don't know... all I care about are those hot scenes between him and Kiku.)

I was first drawn to this show because it was filmed in the town where I grew up. Santa Clarita, CA IS Agrestic. Not just, it looks like it or it happens to be the setting, they are one in the same place. That season where the town burned down? They didn't have to do CGI for a lot of that stuff. Those hills burn every year. So of course I was hooked by the attractive, smart lady drug lord who "lived" in my town, did deals on my community college campus and used sex to get out of awkward situations.

In my opinion, the show began to run into problems once they left Agrestic and Nancy started dealing in things other than small-time pot. The heroin, Mexican gangs and excessive number of deaths was a little bit of an overkill. The entire season The Botwins spent on the run, utterly missable. The way it goes in my head, is that the Showtime people sat down with Jenji Kohan and said, "Why can't we just go back to this show's roots? Why can't we give Nancy a clean slate again?" and that was season 7! And it was awesome. I couldn't have been happier. But then it was supposed to end. Nancy was supposed to be dead, Jill and Andy would have beautiful, stupid babies, Silas would be a model/Dom and Shane would get rejected from the police academy because HE FREAKING KILLED SOMEONE. (People who kill people, even as minors, don't get to become cops. Sorry.) The past was supposed to stay in the past and the future should have been bright and shiny. SHINY!

All that being said, I have been enjoying this current season. Watching Nancy struggle so utterly to lead a normal life and to try to connect with little Stevie is amazing because you know she can't last like that. Nancy hasn't sat still and just enjoyed life once since her husband died. She is a hustler. It is in her blood now. It may take her awhile to lash out, but when she does, it is going to be spectacular.

Hot Nerd Friday: Anne Hathaway

This probably goes without saying but I like a girl who realizes that her head is not just the thing she styles to make her look pretty. You know, a girl with like, brains and stuff. Like, you know? Sorry...

What I like about Anne Hathaway is that she's a full package. She's beautiful, talented, smart and she takes some really fun and adventurous roles. She doesn't mind making herself look silly or unkept. But even when she's playing a frizzy haired personal assistant or a cowgirl with a gay husband, she has such poise and presence. She is a strong confident woman.

The only thing that would make her sexier is if she quit smoking forever. She's far too beautiful and wonderful to have a nasty habit like that. Maybe she should pick up something better like kitten huffing or something.

We all know the reason nerds everywhere are drooling a lot extra for Miss Hathaway tonight is because she's Catwoman. In my opinion, she is one of the sexiest Cat ladies ever. I mean, godDAMN.

Thank you Anne Hathaway. Thank you.
