Hot Nerd Friday: Terrance Zdunich

I know some of you are going to want to yell things when I say this, but I just saw "Repo! The Genetic Opera" this week. It was my laundry day movie. If I can gather one thing from this movie is that I am in love with Terrance Zdunich's brain and his voice. He really pokes me in my creepy, gothy spot. Oh my goodness I love me some sexy, talented goth boys. And goth boys in suits? You could knock me over with a feather.

I have decided that this man needs to be in more things and singing. I adore his voice. Me = butter MELTING all over the place. He has come out with a new movie, "The Devil's Carnival." I don't think there has been a wide release but it has been shown in some late-night theaters to a lucky few.

Please enjoy him. Go visit his site maybe! Unless you get squigged by cockroaches. Then don't. http://www.terrancezdunich.com

The Next Doctor Could be a Woman?

Oh look!!! Another Doctor Who post! While it has been confirmed that Matt Smith will be our Doctor until 2014, Steven Moffat is already thinking about Who and what will be coming next. It is always hard to tell when Steven is being serious and when he's just messing with us BUT there are still ideas floating around in his head!

According to an article from last week in MailOnline*, Steven Moffat is considering making the next iteration of The Doctor be a lady. It is part of the Who mythology that The Doctor while not human, appears human and that Timelords have the ability to regenerate as either gender. However, The Doctor  in all of his journeys with us has never donned the skirt himself.

Moffat says that viewers are much more accepting of The Doctor being a lady now more than they ever have before. Several actresses have already showed interest in the part including "Sherlock's" Lara Pulver, and all-around badass Helen Mirren.

So what do you think? Who should play the next Doctor?

Hot Nerd Friday: Benedict Cumberbatch

Just say his name three or four times. Are you smiling? Yeeeeah, you totally are. Don't lie. He is the kind of British actor I adore. He's unconventionally handsome and has an AMAZING voice. He is an odd looking fellow and he doesn't look like the type who would be super fit but he is. He's also a fantastic actor. Of all the actors who have played Sherlock Holmes, he is my very favorite. I could listen to this man read a lasagna recipe all day long. Mmm... Benedict Cumberbatch.

Pond Life

Gods be praised, the BBC loves us and heard my mournful tears about losing Mr. and Mrs. Pond. (Yes, that is exactly how that works.) They are giving us a web mini series that is just about Amy and Rory!

the premise of the mini-series is life in the Pond household between visits from a special mad man with a blue box. It is going to be a show just about people and how they continue to have normal lives after exploring all of space and time.

The mini series will premiere Monday, August 26th at noon. I'm not sure noon where... exactly though...

Here is a little video of Karen Gillian and Arthur Darvill talking about it.

Sherlock: Series 3

This morning Steven Moffat gave the world a "hint" about what is in store for us in the next series of "Sherlock."

@Steven_Moffat: So. The three tease words for the next run of Sherlock... Rat. Wedding. Bow.

Goddammit Steven Moffat, what does that mean?

Back to waiting impatiently.

Doctor Who Series 7!

If you're like me, you've been panicked for the last month because the beginning of Series 7 of "Doctor Who" had been announced for the UK but not for the U.S. AHHH!!! Makes my head explode! Awful!

It has been announced today that the U.S. will get new "Doctor Who" on September 8th.

The fact that the UK is getting the show August 25th means that BBC will probably be feeling the wrath of the bit torrent.

EDIT 8/22/12:
Turns out the previous article was a liar. The BBC announced today that we will get new episodes on September 1st! Hooray!

Hot Nerd Friday: Arthur Darvill

Okay, so Arthur Darvill isn't really a conventional hottie. He's kind of an Adrian Brody hottie. You know? You don't realize you're attracted to him until you've been staring at him for a couple seasons. I have only seen Arthur Darvill in "Doctor Who" though to be fair, he hasn't been in a whole lot else. I very much enjoy watching playing Rory A.K.A The Best Boyfriend Ever. I mean, Rory may have accidentally shot his wife because he was a robot but at least he waited around for 2000 years to protect her. Nice guy, right? Rory and Amy's love is beautiful. They need each other. Rory wouldn't even exist if it weren't for Amy.

Can you tell I'm really jonesing for new Doctor Who?

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary

The BBC has announced their plans for their "Doctor Who" 50th Anniversary! We will be getting a 90 minute tv movie! Woo! There aren't really any detail at this time but I am sure some will surface... eventually.

Until then, I will rock back and forth chanting, "Doctor, Doctor..." until that daft old man comes back on my tv with a new adventure.

Soon?

Please?

Yes?

Squeeing About Emma Watson

I literally put down the Ravenclaw scarf I am knitting to write about this. I'm not making this stuff up. According to The Telegraph*, Miss Emma Watson has very recently signed on with Guillermo Del Toro on his new "Beauty and the Beast" period piece movie. How freaking exciting! Not a lot is known about this project at this time but with a director like Del Torro, it is sure to be an eye-gasm.

If you are unaware of Del Torro's work, he is the moon-faced little man responsible for such visually stunning movies as "Pan's Labrynthe," "Hellboy," "Hell Boy 2," and "Puss in Boots." Okay, fine they can't all be genius works... Hopefully Del Torro will bring his eye for beautiful sets and costuming to this re-imagination of a classic story.

For Miss Watson's role, while it has not been announced at this time, I am going to venture to guess she will be in the starring role. No much worth in mentioning it if she's only going to be a hand-maiden. I will be eagerly watching IMDB.com for confirmation of my amateur speculations.

While we're waiting ever impatiently for this beauty of a movie to put in our grubby little hands, it is my recommendation that everyone checks out "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," starring Emma Watson next month. This is a movie I will be viewing opening weekend and will probably have a very strong opinion about.

New Doctor Who Trailer!!

There is still no word as to the exact date of the Series 7 premiere. All I know is that it can't come soon enough!!! I miss new Doctor Who so very very much. I have been craving it. I went back and watched older episodes yesterday and I think it just made the longing worse.

Doctor, please come back to us!
